Dynamic Maestro Mueller led the Chorale through 20 years of growth and development, demanding musical excellence and expanding outreach and collaboration. The Chorale named their Student Singer program in his honor at the conclusion of his tenure.
The Chorale's first Music Director, who founded the chorus when a 29-year-old graduate of Yale, Julliard, and Westminster Choir College. Hammond was a disciple of Robert Shaw and a former member of Shaw's landmark Collegiate Chorale in New York, who saw in New Haven his first opportunity to put to work his ideas about choral music's power to foster community.
