Hailed for “one of a kind...marvelous virtuosity,” the Alturas Duo is one of the most entertaining ensembles in chamber music. They electrified our audience during a 2010 collaboration with the Chorale. Don’t miss them this season!
Formed at The Hartt School in 2001 by Victor Boltes and Scott Hill, it promotes South American and classical music by integrating the viola, charango, and guitar with Andean rhythms and dances and new commissioned music. The duo has performed with such diverse artists as the Chilean folklorist Gonzalo Cortes and the Atacama Ensemble. They have worked closely with many composers, performing and lecturing throughout the U.S., Canada, Bolivia, and Chile, including concerts for The Hartt School, the Chilean Embassy in Washington D.C., and the Connecticut Classical Guitar Society. Founders and artistic directors of the Simsbury Chamber Music Festival, they have recorded for Brioso and Naxos records, and been featured on NPR and Radio Beethoven in Chile.
